Apart interpreting the traditional piano repertoire, Babette Dorn has been researching and discovering great but little-known piano music for many years. She has recorded Leopold Godowsky's "Passacaglia" and compositions on hebrew themes by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco for German radio SWR. Her CD with the complete piano works of Ilse Fromm-Michaels (published by Tacet in 1999) was highly acclaimed by the press and followed by an extensive series of radio broadcasts and interviews. She also studied the composer's life and presented the results of her research in several scientific publications, including an article for the MGG encyclopedia, as well as in numerous lecture-concerts like at the "Konzerthaus" in Berlin in 2003. Together with Jan-Christoph Hauschild she is author of "Heine Liederbuch", an anthology published by Hoffmann & Campe in 2005.
For the Mozart Year 2006 the label Genuin published two CDs recorded by Babette Dorn, featuring piano compositions on Mozart's operas "Le Nozze di Figaro - Romance on the Piano" and "Don Giovanni - Adventures on the Piano", which received great critical acclaim and have already been presented in many radio broadcasts all over Europe. A third CD "Die Zauberflöte - Magic on the PIano" will follow in 2007.
