Since she was very young, she played in orchestras as a Section Leader. In 1992 she won the audition as solo-oboist at O.R.T ( Orchestra of Tuscany) where she played until 1997, when she became solo-oboist of the "La Fenice Orchestra" in Venice, a position she has been holding since then. She has also been invited as a solo-oboist by renowned Italian orchestras like "Teatro alla Scala", Scala Philarmonic, "Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia", "Orchestra da Camera di Mantova", "I Virtuosi Italiani" and she collaborates frequently with the Budapest Festival Orchestra directed by I. Fischer.
At the same time she had great success as a concerto soloist with the O.R.T. (especially important was the Bach "Double Concert" with Vladimir Spivakov at the Comunal Theaters of Bologna and Florence), at the Salle Gaveau in Paris, Midem in Cannes, the Theatre of Montecarlo and at the "Salle de la Radio de la Suisse Romande" in Geneva with the Oboe Concert by R. Strauss.
In 1999 she played the Strauss concerto in the season of La Fenice Orchestra. For many years she has collaborated as a soloist with the "Solisti Veneti", with whom she played and recorded the concert by B.Marcello for the R.A.I.
As a dedicated Chamber musician Rossana Calvi has also been guest of the most important Concert seasons, often with the "Mirò" quintet: Chigiana Academy in Siena, Tempo Reale in Florence, Estate Musicale in Sorrento, Settimane Musicali in Naples, Amici della Musica in Vicenza and Stagione Comunale di Varese.
In 1998 she was a laureate of the prestigious "International competition of Geneva", where no other Italian oboist had received a prize for many years.
